Guest: Jacque Mays, founder of Dolls4Alzheimers, an organization that has provided 700 dolls to women (and a few men) with Alzheimer's Disease. As a child, Jacque's hope and relief from personal violence was her own doll. Later, as a doll shop owner, Jacque found her calling of giving life-like dolls to those in need. Many dementia patients suffer from agitation and distress. Dolls have been shown to vastly help in these areas, because it takes the patient back to a time when they were housewives and highly productive. Having a doll brings back happy memories of parenthood, and can reawaken positive memories of being useful and needed; being loved and of loving.
