The struggle for racial equality continues, and during Black History Month, we talked with Chris Miller, the Senior Director of Education and Community Engagement at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati. Their mission is to educate the public about African American history, how slaves were rescued through the network called "The Underground Railroad" and in this episode, explains how "The Black Codes", written into Ohio's new statehood legislation, controlled those of African descent, and how that affected Cincinnati families and neighborhoods. He contends these discriminatory practices continue today. A new film, "America's Truth: Cincinnati" zeroes in on how our diverse region became segregated and how a two-tier system of justice created a different set of standards and rules that reverberate today in Cincinnati.
