This podcast contains comments from the August 13, 2020 College Station city council meeting.

The easternmost stretch of College Station's William D. Fitch parkway, which mayor Karl Mooney describes as riding on "a gentle rollercoaster", is getting attention.

The city council has approved a design contract to replace the pavement on Fitch between Rock Prairie and Highway 30.

The $812,000 design contract is part of an $8.26 million dollar project that does not add traffic lanes.

Capital projects director Emily Fisher says the 812 thousand dollar design contract will study if the new road surface will be asphalt or concrete.

Fisher and the mayor also responded to concerns about proceeding when less money is being collected by the city.

The design process is expected to take 12 months. Construction is not scheduled to start until October 2021 and will take 12-15 months to complete, weather permitting.
