That's when the board approved included spending more than $420,000 dollars on improvements at the district's performing arts centers.
BISD's chief financial officer Kevin Beesaw presented the recommendation to spend savings from last year's bond issue....mostly to replace the curtain rigging system at the performing arts center adjacent to Stephen F. Austin middle school.
Superintendent Christie Whitbeck and fine arts director Pat Corbett explained why state law prevented this project from being included in Bryan ISD's $175 million dollar bond issue that will take place later this year.
