Bula, Ma’lelei, Talofa and Welcome to Season 07 Episode 23 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika people’s sports news, on a bright and sunny Tuesday morning 24 October 2023.

Coming to you with tons of hanisi from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Blue Continent - the Pacific Ocean.

In rugby union: England’s Wayne Barnes will take charge of the Rugby World Cup 2023 final between New Zealand and South Africa at Stade de France on Sunday, with Australia's Nic Berry to referee the bronze final between Argentina and England a day earlier.

Barnes, the world’s most-capped referee with 110 tests made his debut with Fiji v Samoa in Suva in June 2006, will become only the second Englishman to officiate a Rugby World Cup final after Ed Morrison in 1995.

It will be a record 27th Rugby World Cup match as referee for Barnes in what is his fifth tournament. The final will be his sixth match in the middle during France 2023.

In rugby league: Samoan rugby league fans are relishing the prospect of Jamayne Isaako facing off against his Dolphins teammate, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow this Saturday in Melbourne when the Kangaroos host the Kiwis in the Pacific Championships at AAMI Park.

The pair have each carried their strong NRL form – which saw them score a combined 39 tries for the competition newcomers – the Dolphins, into the Test arena with their nations of birth, after both represented Samoa in the past.

In Football SportsBiz: Remember how Gary O’Neil was surprisingly sacked in June despite leading Bournemouth to survival in the EPL last season against the odds?

The Club’s American owner, Bill Foley, said at the time, “that the chance to hire one of Europe’s most promising young Coaches in Spaniard, Andoni Iraola was too good to turn down.”

Well O’Neil savoured sweet revenge on his return to Bournemouth as Wolves came from behind to win 2-1 and extend Iraola’s season to just three points and no wins from nine games, and this after Bournemouth splashed out over £100 million in the transfer window. OUCH.

In the cutthroat world of the EPL, next weekend’s clash against Burnley could be Iraola’s last roll of the dice.

And that’s a wrap!
