All demographic groups who responded to a College Station school district survey favored keeping an all week Thanksgiving break and opposed a break in October.

Those were among the conclusions going into last week's school board vote adopting next year's calendar...which was supported by 3,266 of 4.060 taking an online survey.

Chief academic officer Penny Tramel says the calendar that was adopted, option "B", was supported by 92 percent of teachers, almost 90 percent of staff and community members, and almost 80 percent of parents and students.

Requests from the more than 700 comments the district received through the survey included considering taking off the Monday after Easter. Tramel says that was not done because students begin STAAR tests the next day.

Dr. Tramel said CSISD's spring break matches what was scheduled at Texas A&M.

It was also noted that 3,500 of the more than 4,000 survey responses came on the first three days the survey was online.
