Episode LXII (62): HARVEST TIME - Tonight, we continue our special September Singer/Songwriter/Storyteller Showcase series as we welcome the inspiring Sherita Perez into the studio fresh off (she landed yesterday) her 6-month tour of New Zealand for an enlightening episode of conversation, drinks, laughs, music and possibly a little smoke. Perez is a songwriter who enjoys writing about High Vibes, positive change through action, manifestation and choosing to be someone under any circumstances. She also puts this practice into daily life. From the clothes she wears, to the food she eats, to the places she likes to play, Sherita is focused on supporting values such as depolarization, sustainability, community and conscious capitalism. Sherita's journey has been full of hard ship and struggle which has led to much pain. Instead of letting the pain destroy her, she converts this pain into healing and High Vibes songs. A diverse singer who is comfortable performing solo and fronting full bands, including her once popular band ‘Fear the Poet’ where she first caught the Galactic Guys attention while touring Houston many years ago, Perez has been honored by many major magazines, recorded with famed producers (Chris “Frenchie” Smith and Josh Applebee among them), appeared on major market radio stations across the country and delighted audiences at festivals and venues across the planet (including New York’s legendary CBGB’s before it closed). She will be joining us live and in studio tonight before launching her album release party (Sherita Perez Album release party) and North American tour which will take her from Houston (Texas) to Humboldt (California). Please join us as she discusses her new album, her recent tour and plays some new songs and older favorites. She will also share information she has learned along the way about life and the state of hemp and cannabis right now. We may also discuss a (to be announced) cannabis documentary that will be released next year among other exciting topics. It should be a blast!! And if time allows, we plan to put our guest to the test with our world-famous, on-topic audio quiz and tease some of what is on tap this weekend in beer, music and events thanks to our friends at The SCENE Magazine. Two featured events this upcoming weekend include the Clear Lake Creek Festival (Friday, Sept 13 to Sunday, Sept 15 at Clear Lake Park’s Landolt Pavilion) and the Kemah Craft Beer Festival on the Kemah Boardwalk (Saturday, Sept 14). Key musical shows of note this weekend range from an appearance of the Austin-based Jonace Lewerance band tonight at T-bone Toms to Houston favorite The Slags on Saturday (September 14) at Jackie’s Brickhouse to International Recording Artist PJ Sin Suela taking the stage just down the street from our studio at Scout Bar (Sunday, September 15) as part of his Official USA Tour. Of course we also recommend starting your Sunday Funday with the talented duo of Chris Hardy & Matt Cash, 3-7pm Downstairs on the Patio over looking the lake at Cabo Clear Lake (Sunday, September 15: ). Did we mention there would be beer? Thirsty yet? Then grab a drink and tune in to the Galactic Coast Power Hour at 7pm!! The show is available live at www.vinyldraughtradio.com, on the iHeartRadio app, Spotify, the TuneIn app, the Player FM app, the Live 365 app and NEWSFLASH: THE BRAND NEW VINYL DRAUGHT RADIO APP AVAILABLE NOW in both the ITUNES and GOOGLE PLAY stores (we told you it was coming). Episodes are also available after the fact on iTunes, Google Play and SoundCloud. Cheers from your hosts the Discovery Channel’s “Galactic Guys” (John Ennis and Mighty Michael Taylor). Special thanks to the hardest working women in radio and our new friend Robyn Reichle on the controls and keeping us on the air and sounding good. We also appreciate all of those helping behind the scenes at the station, the networks that carry us and beyond. Prepare for Liftoff!!
