Kia ora, Talofa, Ma’lelei, Bula, Aloha and Welcome to Season 10 Episode 19 of Breakfast Bites, by TEIVOVOdigital.com – a wrap of Pasifika people’s sports news, on Saturday morning 20 July 2024, where it is mostly cloudy and 22 degrees Celsius at 5am.

Happy birthday Elijah & Happy birthday Mum!

Coming to you with tons of hanisi from the 180th meridian, in the middle of the blue continent.

In Rugby Union: All eyes will be on the Flying Fijians versus the All Blacks clash in San Diego, California today, where the Kiwis are feeling the heat.

Try-scoring Crusader’s sensation Sevu Reece starts, while fellow Fijian, Emoni Narawa is on the bench.

Fiji Coach, Mick Byrne will be hoping that his burly European-based Fijians will match the Kiwis in the set pieces and in the contact area, to keep his star flyhalf, Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula on the front foot.

In Rugby League: While ORIGIN III took its toll on some Clubs – especially the Broncos they have been handed a massive boost with star half Adam Reynolds confirmed to make a shock early return against Kalyn Ponga and his Newcastle Knights, playing for the first time in ten weeks later today, after biceps surgery.

In Football: Man City announced the signing of Brazilian Wing Savinho on Thursday from French side Troyes, who are owned by the same parent company as the English champions.

Savinho shone last season on loan at Girona, another club owned by the City Football Group.
City will reportedly pay a fee of 40 million Euros for the 20-year-old, who has signed a five-year contract.

The Brazilian international scored nine goals and provided 10 assists as Girona finished third behind Real Madrid and Barcelona to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history.

In the Olympic Games: The 19-year-old Captain of the Japanese Women’s Gymnastics team, Shoko Miyata has been sent home from the Paris Olympics over allegations of smoking, local media reported yesterday.

Smoking is illegal under the age of 20 in Japan and the Japan Gymnastics Association was investigating to decide if she had breached their code of conduct.

Several reports said that Miyata, who was expected to contend for a medal in Paris, had already left the team’s training camp in Monaco.

She won the all-around title at Japan’s National Gymnastics Championships earlier this year.

In SportsBiz: Warner Brothers Discovery formally received the paperwork from the NBA's proposed US$77Billion media rights deal on Thursday, so they have until next Tuesday to match NBC's reported US$2.5B package or Amazon’s bid, which sources say, has now grown to more than US$1.9B annually.

However, sources also say that the NBA contends Warner Brothers Discovery cannot match Amazon's deal in its “totality" because matching rights are not solely financial.

The NBA believes that because Amazon is a streaming entity with a worldwide reach of 200 million viewers, linear TNT Sports - though available in more than 220 countries & territories and in 50 languages - simply cannot match.

It’s all about scale baby!

In Combat Sports: As Youtuber and fake boxer, Jake Paul fights former UFC star and bare knuckle fighter Mike Perry in Tampa live on DAZN later today, Mike Tyson told Esquire magazine in an interview, that he decided to fight “the problem child” because “I don’t think he can hurt me.”

And that’s a wrap peeps!
