A few years ago, before I had understood the connection between food and health, my mother in law told me she’d got a book from the book people when they’d come to her work. It was a book by someone calling themselves the medicinal chef. She thought I’d like it, she said, because I had started dipping my toes into changing my diet.
Little did she or I know what this book would lead to for me. From thinking that being slim was the way forward and that what I had to do was eat less and move more, the book taught me that it is what I eat that matters. And the author of this book was none other than Dale Pinnock, who I have with me on the show today!
Dale Pinnock has dedicated the last nearly 30 years of his life to the field of Nutrition and helping people like you and me achieve better health. Nutrition is an incredibly powerful and effective tool in the management and prevention of disease. It represents one of the key things that we can actually do for ourselves to actively play a role in our own healthcare.
He is a Sunday Times best selling author of 18 books, clinical practitioner, TV presenter and teacher. He holds a BSc in Human Nutrition, a BSc in Herbal Medicine, and a Post Graduate Degree in Nutritional Medicine. He is also the creator of the culinary medicine college, of which I am one of the students.
In this episode we talk about the health issues facing us in today's society and what we can do to improve our own health.
