If you know anything about America you know it has a very horrific and racist history. This story will still shock you. On May 31, 1921 a mob of white people gathered around the courthouse looking to get their hands on a teen accused of assualting a white girl. Despite the fact that the girl took back her accusation and the sheriff didn't really believe her in the first place, the mob wanted "justice". The people of Greenwood were not going to see a black man lynched in their town and went to try to defend him. What follows is a day of henious murder and destruction. By June 2nd, 300 black people were dead and over 1,000 homes were burnt to the ground. The once relatively well off people of Greenwood were now refugees in their own city. All this because white people are monsters.
