When is the next recession going to start?

It's on the minds of many according to the chief economist at the Texas A&M real estate research center, Jim Gaines.

In remarks during the chamber of commerce economic outlook conference, Dr. Gaines said the hard data continues to show a growing economy.

Gaines pointed to a slide in his presentation that 2018 was a very good year and there will be a slowdown in 2019, but the slowdown is in the rate of growth.

Gaines says in three months, the United States will set a record for the longest period of economic growth in the nation's history.

Gaines says the last time he saw the odds out of Vegas, there was a 23 percent probability of a recession this year, which he says is a longshot.
