The Brazos County Appraisal District office has been receiving calls from homeowners who have received letters in the mail from solicitors offering to file their homestead application for a fee.
Chief Appraiser Mark Price says there is no charge to file a homestead exemption application with the appraisal district.
Homestead applications are available on the BCAD website, by visiting the BCAD office, or going to the Texas Comptroller's website at https://comptroller.texas.gov and enter Homestead Exemption in the search box.
Price also welcomes anyone with questions to call the BCAD office at 979-774-4100.
