Was the Paris Olympic Games 2024 the best ever?
 
It certainly was the most beautiful with the Eiffel Tower and the Palace of Versailles, the River Seine plus many other iconic backdrops.

The Men’s Marathon which traditionally is the last event of the Olympic Games, made way for the Women’s Marathon; the switch, part of efforts in Paris to make the Olympic spotlight shine more brightly on the sporting feats of women.

Paris was also where women first made their Olympic debut, at the Games of 1900, and this year - for the first time ever, 50% of participants were female.

The Olympic torch was handed over to Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise who accepted the mission impossible for Los Angeles to match these magnificent games in 2028.

In Sportsbiz: Several notable publicly traded sports entities reported revenue gains from their most recent quarters.

Some of the biggest winners on Wall Street:
· Formula One Racing: Owned by Liberty Media, saw a 20% revenue spike to US$871Million, from eight Grands Prix compared to six over the same quarter in 2023.
· Atlanta Braves: The MLB team saw revenue grow 4% to US$266M despite hosting only 40 home games in the quarter, compared to 43 same time last year.
· TKO: The company formed out of the US$21Billion UFC-WWE merger in September 2023, reported revenue of US$851.2M.

In Rugby League: Wayne Bennett, a longtime critic of the NRL’s golden point rule, instead of teams sharing the competition points, says he still hates golden point despite winning an extra-time thriller that put his side back in the Top 8 on Sunday.

This after Dolphins playmaker, Sean O’Sullivan called for the ball on the fifth tackle in sudden death time and then booted one of the best field goals of 2024 to down the NZ Warriors 32-34 at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.
