Description
Alright, folks, let's chat about what's brewing up above our heads with a forecast straight from the U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA, Space Weather Prediction Center. First up, we have...
show moreFirst up, we have some NOAA Geomagnetic Activity observations and forecasts. The Kp index has been dancing around below NOAA Scale levels, with a peak of 2 in the last 24 hours. But looking ahead to July 14th through the 16th, we're expecting some action with a forecasted peak of 4.67 on the NOAA Scale (that's G1 level). So, keep an eye on the skies, especially in the early hours.
Moving on to Solar Radiation Activity, we've had levels chilling below storm thresholds lately. The forecast for July 14th to the 16th shows a slight 15% chance of S1 or greater storms, mostly thanks to our friend AR 3738 hanging out in a favorable spot. So, be ready for a touch of solar drama.
And last but not least, NOAA's got the scoop on Radio Blackout Activity. We've seen some R2-level blackouts in the past 24 hours, with the most hefty one hitting its peak on July 13th at 1242 UTC. Looking ahead, there's a 60% chance of R1-R2 blackouts and a 15% chance of R3 or greater on July 14th through the 16th. So, keep those radios tuned in for some potential stormy interference.
